Signs of Fall

I never tire of the butterflies and Zinnias. If Butterflies are an indication of the health of our world, we're in pretty good shape! (thanks for this shot, Mr Mullen!)

*********************************

It's been a busy and hot week around the farm. Heat indexes up in the 100's have kept outdoor activities limited to mornings. Early Friday, my friend Becky and I went out for a morning trail ride at The Why Not Ranch . It was exactly what we needed! (thanks for the I phone pic, Becky!) That's my horse 'Jack'.

After a nice lunch with my friend, Kim and her son Seth at Legends, I met Sarah and we did a little antique shopping in Columbia and then it was off to TLC (Trinity Lutheran Church's Childcare Program) to party with Trey at his end-of-summer bash!

Trey turns 5 this week and starts kindegarten ... he is SO excited! Heather was there, and brought homemade cookies, they didn't last long! Trey asked if I'd read them a story ( last visit I read, "King Bidgood's in the Bathtub" one of my all time favorite books! ), so I obliged, of course!!!
Alot was crammed into one day but I wouldn't have wanted to miss a single minute of it!
*****************************
There was an abundance of tomatoes this week which turned into Pizza Sause and went in the freezer.

The barn swallows, my favorite birds, have been flying high this week ... a sure sign they are about to head out. I will miss their playful behaviors. They do a great job keeping the bug population down. It is the first sign of summer coming to an end.

I'm a little long-winded this post ... I'll try to post less, more often! Until we meet again ... Slante!
